On August 18, 2014, Chuck and Dianne will celebrate 60 years together. We want to honor this grand occasion over the next year by sharing memories made as a family. Please contribute by adding any memory you have of the family, doesn't have to be specific to mom & dad (grandma & grandpa). Add as much as you like and make them as short or long as you want! Think traditions, trips, girls weekends, holidays, summer nights on the patio, weddings, babies, funny stories... you get the picture! Let's remember the legacy that Chuck and Dianne have created!

Please state who is documenting the memory on the first line of the post. Thanks!

Girls' Weekends

By Amy Daniels

Girls' weekends have always been so much fun! From our first one in Las Vegas in the early 90s to our adventures (in no particular order) in Park City (multiple times), St. George, Tucson, Seattle, San Diego, Tahoe (or was it Palm Springs?), in Steph's bedroom, San Francisco (twice), and New York City. Am I missing any places we have been? There are so many fun memories associated with girls' weekends including Mom dancing on the table...and breaking it, landing in Steve Young's backyard in a hot air balloon, listening to "Return to Pooh Corner" over and over and over, Steph getting naughty fortune cookies in Chinatown, taking our iconic jumping pic in front of the Harley Davidson sign in SF, singing and dancing to Mamma Mia songs, playing games, telling funny stories (Joe as Adolph), and always laughing so so much!!

*I don't have pictures from them all, so please feel free to add pictures or any fun memories. 😍

I remember in San Francisco, we made mom hike up to Lombard Street.  It was a pretty steep incline.  We got to the top and I told mom she did a great job and made it! Mom, at 78 or so, commented back that she doesn't care to ever do that again as long as she lives.

Time with Grandma

 By Amy Daniels

One thing that I have always loved about Mom is how she spends time with the grandkids. There are so many pictures of her reading with the kids, doing puzzles with them, having tea parties with them, playing with them. She has always been present with them! I love that about her!

Philly 2010

In September 2010, I took Mom and Dad to Philadelphia for a day trip. We visited the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and Benjamin Franklin’s grave. And of course we had a Philly cheesesteak at Geno’s!

This has always been one of Mom‘s favorite pictures – reading in our library with Tate!

Front Porch Memories

There have been many memories made on our front porch – numerous games of Colored Easter Eggs being played – and so many photos, but these are among my favorites. Sarah was under the weather and here is Mom – reading to her and interacting with her and loving her in a way that only Grandma Dianne can do.

Grateful for Grandma

Looking back on the years, I'm feeling particularly grateful this holiday season to have you as my grandmother, and as a great-grandmother to my kids. Merry Christmas 2022, Grandma!

Donuts in the Park

By Paige Daniels

Every summer growing up I looked forward to going to Grandma and Grandpa's house, seeing all the cousins and having Donuts in the Park. Seeing Grandpa come home with dozens of Krispy Kreme donuts never failed to put a smile on my face. My favorite years were those when I woke up early enough to go on the donut run with him; I also felt so special getting to pick out my favorite chocolate glaze with sprinkles, and maybe even get a free donut when the light was on. I loved walking over to Scera Park and setting up the picnic tables, even if all the waiting tested my patience. ;) It was always so fun running around the playground wearing paper Krispy Kreme hats. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for all the traditions and some of the best memories in my life. I love you!
