It was the spring of 2006 and Steph had just found out that the melanoma, for which she had diligently completed a year of interferon treatments in the hopes of eradicating it from her body, had come back with a vengeance. She knew she was going to lose her hair with the upcoming procedures she would be going through. Instead of letting it fall out slowly over time, she decided to take it head-on and asked Coray to just cut it off.

Her new hairdo
Notice the wig on her lap?? Earlier that day she and Brooke and Jamie and I (did I get everyone...I can't remember for sure) had gone wig shopping. Again, Steph met this whole dealing with cancer thing with the utmost of grace and strength. We narrowed her favorite wigs down to two choices, but she really wanted to get Dale's opinion. She called Dale and he came and met us at the wig shop. I do remember that he chose the wig that was our second choice. After much thought and consideration Steph went with his choice. I must say she looked beautiful!

I thought Steph looked beautiful with her short haircut! She truly did handle her cancer, and all the struggles that came with it, with true grace. Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteSteph was always a no-nonsense kind of gal. She approached her cancer in the same way. She faced it head-on, with courage and dignity. She was and is an example of true goodness and inspiration to me.
